Competition and Relationships

Musk Ox and Caribou- When food gets severly scarce, they will fight for food even many may fight their own kind because they all share similar diets.  The Caribou is also represented in an example of parasitism. When ticks and tapeworms attach to the Caribou, the ticks and tapeworms are benefitting, but the Caribou is not benefitting.

Red Fox and Arctic Fox- Competition becomes severe when they are looking for a good area with food and plenty of necessities and room. The Arctic Fox ties into an example of commensalism when they rely on the Polar bears to kill their food sources for them meaning the Arctic Foxes will then benefit and the Polar Bears are not being harmed.

Plants- The plants in the tundra fight for water and living space because of the lack of liquids and land no covered in snow. Two specific plants in the tundra represent mutualism. Fungus and alga in Lichens are made up of the alga which photosynthetically feeds the fungus and the fungus then provides protection from the alga by collecting water and salts which benefits both organisms.
